We have an opportunity for a Chef to join their team of staff in the Catering department in a private hospital with passion for fresh local high end produce looking for passionate individual looking to develop and bring ideas forward for seasonal menus.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Pay uplift for Unsocial Weekdays (30%), Unsocial Weekends (40%) and Bank Holidays (50%).

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in an operational kitchen and be able to provide thorough knowledge of all kitchen sections
  • Knife skills and handling
  • Basic food hygiene
  • Understanding of COSHH and HACCP and safe working practices.
  • A calm, caring and empathic attitude towards patients, relatives & colleagues
  • An ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, with a commitment to collaborative working

Duties of this role include:

  • Ensure high quality delivery of food produced and served within the hospital. This role covers all aspects of the hospitality function, room, guest, patient and catering related. It requires an awareness of the needs of staff, patients and the public and the ability to respond in a pleasant and professional manner at all times. A flexible approach to working is required (currently operating between 0600 – 2000 daily) and staff are empowered to contribute to the development of kitchen menus.
  • To cover all kitchen duties as necessary.
  • To ensure that all patients and visitors to the Hospital receive the agreed high quality food.
  • To ensure that all food is prepared to the agreed standard.
  • To ensure the associated documentation is completed and maintained in relation to visitors to back-of-house areas.
  • To understand and be fully competent in understanding and fulfilling the necessary and emergency procedures and alarms.
  • To ensure Kitchen Assistants are working efficiently.
