Read Dean’s Story

I joined the army in 1993 as Combat Medical Technician and then transferred to be an Operating Department Practitioner in 1998. I have had a military career of over 23 years and reached the rank of Warrant Officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps.

I spent most of my military career in high readiness units with airmobile, wheeled and air assault brigades, and was deployed to the Balklands, Lebanon, Africa, Afghanistan and Cyprus. I was lucky enough to gain a postgraduate qualification in Education and work with civilians at Birmingham City University lecturing to Paramedics, Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners. My greatest achievement was probably leading the theatre team in Bastion, Role 3 trauma Hospital in Afghanistan and receiving a commendation for that deployment.

I have been working at Lincoln Hospital as a Clinical Services Manager for Theatres as part of Circle Health Group for over 2 years. I really enjoy the day-to-day challenge of operationally leading a department. We have a fantastic family atmosphere at Lincoln and extremely high standards in patient care. Circle Health Group also offers a great amount of development and support to all the staff. I am very proud to work in such an amazing team, hospital, and company.
