Clinical Specialist - Hand Therapy

Salary: Up to 51,734.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Clinical Specialist – Hand Therapy to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department.

This is a part- time role for 23 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

  • Undertake specialist assessment and treatment of patients with complex hand injuries, post-surgical conditions, fractures, and chronic upper limb dysfunctions.

  • Develop and implement highly specialised treatment plans, including splinting, scar management, exercise programmes, and functional rehabilitation.

  • Make autonomous clinical decisions using advanced reasoning skills and evidence-based practice.

  • Lead the hand therapy service, acting as the key clinical expert within the physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams.

  • Develop and review clinical pathways, protocols, and outcome measures specific to hand therapy.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and expansion of hand therapy services in line with patient needs and clinical advancements.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • HCPC-registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist.

  • Extensive post-registration experience in musculoskeletal or upper limb rehabilitation.

  • Proven expertise in hand therapy, including splinting, post-surgical care, and conservative management.

  • Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teaching skills.

  • Experience leading or developing specialist services.
