Salary: Up to £50,056.00 per annum

We have an opportunity for a First Contact Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department.
This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- 6 years post graduate experience with minimum 3 years’ experience in MSK
- Relevant evidence of CPD
- Member of HCPC and CSP
- Degree in physiotherapy
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a musculoskeletal setting
- MSc in Physiotherapy
- Experience in audit
- Injection therapy qualification
- Up to date with effective orthopaedic and MSK practice and research and related fields of Practice
- Works with evidence based practice
- Understanding of scope of practice issues and legal accountability and responsibilities
- Computer literate
- Ability to justify clinical decisions with Consultants, GPwSI’s, Physiotherapists and GPs
- Independent and unsupervised advanced decision-making and problem solving skill
- Reflective skills
- Flexible with Travel
- Excellent knowledge neuro- musculoskeletal conditions
- Experience of Audit and how to implement change.
- Experience of working in an autonomous role
- Clinical Supervision skills and experience
- IRMER Trained
- Triage experience
- Experience of ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
Duties of this role include:
- To work as an FCP within the MSK service alongside other clinicians such as APPs, GP’s, podiatrists and physiotherapists
- To undertake highly specialised & comprehensive neuro-musculoskeletal assessments, of routine and complex patients in the GP setting.
- To form accurate diagnoses, management plans and prognosis, using advanced clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of best current clinical and evidence based practice and assimilation/interpretation of clinical diagnostic tests
- To independently and appropriately refer into the iMSK service for diagnostic procedures such as MRI, USS, X-Ray and NCS
- To refer patients onto appropriate specialities within primary and secondary care
- To be able to independently administer joint and soft tissue injections (or willing to work towards such a skill)
- To communicate effectively and professionally with patients and medical colleagues regarding assessment, management and treatment choices
- Contribute to, and participate in, on-going development/IST within the MSK team
- To work in a unified manner with other team members across the MSK service in following, and developing, clinical pathways
- To triage incoming MSK referrals and make decisions regarding most appropriate referral onto care providers either within, or outside, the service
- To refer patients onto appropriate specialities according to agreed service pathways
- To provide an excellent level of service to all patients and stakeholders
- To document all clinical decisions and communicate with GPs, GPwSIs, Consultants and other clinical professionals as required
- To maintain a high standard of physiotherapy practice, working to the CSP ‘Codes of Practice’
