We have an opportunity for a Housekeeping & Portering Lead to join their team of staff in the Housekeeping department.

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern including evenings and weekends.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory position.
  • Prior experience in completing audits.
  • Maths, English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems.

Duties of this role include:

  • You lead the housekeeping and portering team, ensuring that Circle Health Group’s high standards of
  • cleanliness is being maintained.
  • In collaboration with the Hotel Services Manager, you will manage a duty roster (to include all housekeeping and porter duties), to cover all shifts, while also ensuring the appropriate level of staffing is in place for the hospital demand and the tasks involved.
  • You ensure the environment is safe and pleasant for patients, visitors and Circle Health
  • Group employees.
  • You undertake duties related to the provision of housekeeping and portering services.
  • You ensure all associated housekeeping duties are carried out effectively and efficiently.
  • You are flexible to the business needs and ensure all areas of Housekeeping are adequately
  • staffed in line with demand.
  • You will be required to work a minimum of 2 later shifts per week and at weekends as and when necessary, so ensure that all staff are in contact with you, and you are able to monitor performance and audit areas.
  • You ensure the cleaning and servicing of all hospital areas (clinical and non-clinical, including
  • Theatre) to the required Circle Health Group standards and in line with Circle Health Group
  • procedures.
  • You manage the linen contract ensuring linen is ordered in line with business requirements.
  • You will ensure the collection and appropriate handling of used (soiled and fouled) or infectious
  • linen and waste and the distribution of clean linen to wards and departments within the hospital.
  • You ensure that the highest possible standards are maintained to promote and safeguard
  • the well–being and interests of patients, employees and visitors.
  • You comply with all relevant mandatory training.
  • Ensure that the Porter team to undertake a range of general and ad hoc tasks on a day-to-day basis
  • to meet the requirements of the site such as patient, equipment, and goods (e.g., pharmacy
  • goods) movement.
  • Ensure that the hospital facilities and services are explained to patients and family members
  • when escorting people to rooms or other hospital areas.
  • Ensure a courteous service is provided to internal and external customers.
  • Operational costs are controlled and monitored in line with departmental budgets, with
  • emphasis on overtime and bank spend being minimised when appropriate.
  • The Portering Lead will support in any portering duties between any departments as and
  • when required.
  • Support of porter staff to ensure they are provided with the necessary resources to deliver
  • on their responsibilities
  • Maintain good working relationships with staff and consultants within the hospital
  • Supporting all departments as appropriate and required
  • Ensure porter staff remain vigilant and aware of security within the hospital
  • Ensure appropriate modes and methods of manual handling are always used for individual tasks
  • required across the services and that training and supervision has been sufficient in these
  • modes, for example, manual handling, medical gases, etc.
  • Ensure that all porters who may work in the Theatre environment are fully inducted and
  • trained in all appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Comply with hospital policy regarding patient confidential.
  • Participate in hospital cover / manager on-call rotas including weeknights and weekend
  • shifts, where applicable.
  • To deputise for line manager in their absence, as appropriate
