We are excited to offer an opportunity for two Specialist Nurses to join the dedicated Oncology team. We are currently recruiting for the following roles:

  • 1 x Specialist Nurse – Breast Cancer: This role involves working across both the medical and surgical pathways for breast cancer patients.
  • 1 x Specialist Nurse – Chemotherapy: This nurse will manage the UKONS telephone triage service, liaise with tumour-specific Clinical Nurse Specialists, and provide support based on service needs, including coordinating patient care.

Both positions are full-time roles (37.5 hours per week) and will include participation in an on-call rota shared across the team to cover the out-of-hours UKONS triage hotline. Post holders must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts as required.

Duties of this role include:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care within your area of specialism, acting as a clinical expert and role model.
  • Support assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of patients with complex or long-term conditions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of care pathways and protocols based on national guidelines and best practice.
  • Provide education, support, and counselling to patients and families, empowering them to understand and manage their health conditions.
  • Act as a key contact for patients, ensuring consistent, coordinated care throughout their treatment journey.
  • Signpost to additional services and resources to support holistic care.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, or Mental Health, depending on specialty) with valid NMC registration.
  • Significant post-registration experience in the relevant specialty area.
  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge and advanced clinical skills within a defined field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
